Support for Children’s Homes:
Every Sunday morning, as the children leave the sanctuary for the nursery and/or Children’s Church, they march out to the song, “I Will Make you Fishers of Men” and drop change in an offering plate.  This special offering helps to support two children’s homes:
Children’s Home of the Mountain, we currently sponsor Oscar
Lighthouse Children’s Home, which we’ve been supporting since 1994 and currently sponsor Alex

We also send monthly support to Living Alternatives, which is a pregnancy resource center

Resource Centers
In May 2006 our church was called upon to help a family in need, which led to our joining efforts with the Family Resource Center in Gun Barrel City, Texas.  This group coordinates outreach efforts to meet needs.  We were able to start supporting them monthly in June 2009.
WIBC has a food pantry with food available to those in need at any time, and special food baskets delivered during Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Bro. Mark has begun converting the original church building into a resource building, with gently used clothing, for families in need.  For more information on the WIBC Resource Center, please contact us.
Charity Fund
In December 2004, WIBC started a charity fund to help families in need, by helping to provide food, pay utilities or medical expenses.  In addition, this fund provides interest free loans to church members; such loans are approved by the Charity Fund Board members.  Funds for this account are provided by special offerings, however the church also holds a potluck lunch after morning service on the third Sunday of most months, to help raise funds.  Instead of taking one’s family out for Sunday lunch and paying for it, they can participate in the Benevolence Meal and, if they choose, make a donation for their meal (bucket usually near the plates).  This is an enjoyable time, where we can fellowship and meet our physical (nutrition) needs, while helping to fill others’ needs.

The facts from the World Health Organization tell us that 1.2 billion people worldwide have no access to pure water.  Four million people die every year from water-borne illnesses.  It’s estimated that a child dies somewhere in the world every 15 seconds of a water-borne disease.  Thru Christ, we can do something about this terrible problem.  Hope Springs Water is natural spring water by Premium Water of Fort Worth, who uses the money it earns to drill water wells wherever needed throughout the wolrd.  It will invest in pure water delivery systems and reclaim wells that have been unproductive because of lack of maintenance.  It will lead in sanitation projects that result from the availability of ample water supply.  Their mission is to provide not only fresh water, but also the living water, by using this opportunity to also spread the gospel.  Some local grocery stores carry Hope Springs water, which raises money for this cause.  If you would like to help, you can ask your grocer if they carry the product or give an offering earmarked for this fund, as WIBC also collects funds to support this outreach activity.   For more information, visit www.HopeSpringsWater.org
